Luffa is a plant used for body care and cleaning since ancient Egypt. It was introduced in Europe in the 16th century. This vegetable soap dish made of loofah fibres will keep your soap dry all day long.
A real vegetable sponge, the loofah is a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family that grows in the eastern Mediterranean countries, producing fruits that are reminiscent of courgettes. The inside of the ripe fruit has a rough texture. This vegetable sponge is simply dried squash pulp, consisting of a network of tough fibres.
This loofah fibre soap dish has two complementary functions :
- to keep the soap dry,
- to clean your sink, as the soap and water residues that collect at the bottom of the holder give you a scented sponge!
Rinse it with clear water and use it again and again.
